Tongue Action
Almost forgot to blog about this...a conversation that I overheard while on the subway ride back from my trip to LV...
This involved two people whom I presume were new lovers. The guy had a thick German accent (I studied German, so I know...& it turned out I was right, as later on I heard that he's Swiss), & the woman had a mix of Jamaican & ghetto accents. You can imagine what's about to come, lol.
Woman: "Hey, is Etch-eye-arm famous in Europe??"
Man: "What??"
"Etch-eye-arm??"
"...huh??"
"H...AAND...ARM??" (Believe it or not, I actually knew she was saying "H&M" from the start, lol)
"...oh. No, I don't know it...??"
"Oh, okay. I guess it's just famous here in North America then."
(At this point, I was ready to turn around & tell them that either i) the guy didn't understand her properly or ii) he was a dumbass considering H&M IS from Europe & one of the largest clothing franchises over there. But I resisted.)
"What about Dee-un-shee??"
"What??"
"DEE...AAND...GEE??" (Here, I nearly turned around again, this time I was gonna point to my glasses to show him what she was talking about...but no, I decided to let this keep going, lol)
"Oh ya, D&G. I know that one."
This went on for a while, basically all the lady did was question the guy about fashion labels in Europe, pronouncing them in all sorts of funny ways with her accent. I was biting my lips trying not to burst out in laughter, but I think I did a pretty poor job, lol (thankfully I had my back against them =P). And I'm so glad she didn't see my paper bag, as it probably would've promoted her to try to say "Louis Vuitton". Oh the horror. xD
After they left the train, I couldn't help but wonder what else they'd talk about normally...or how they met, even. It must be kinda awkward trying to communicate when you can hardly understand each other. But hey, sometimes body language is all you need, right?? ;P

Hello, Louis
...ya, I bought it. WHAT. xP

Let me just say this: ³oÓLV, ±o¨Ó¤£©ö (LOL). First I went to the Holt Renfrew @ Yorkdale (which was SUPER PACKED, thanks to today being a PA Day...luckily I found a parking spot in less than 5 minutes, I thought that was a sign from God xD), & after asking the saleslady about the bag (they didn't have it on display), she took one out of the cabinets to show me. I was THIS close from making the purchase until I saw that one of the metal buckles was slightly scratched up/dented, so I asked her if they had another one. Unfortunately, it was the only one left (& she had to rub it in by saying they just sold one yesterday, ugh), so I was out of luck. She proceeded to tell me that if I wanted more choices, I could go downtown to the LV store to get it, since they had 4 (even the Holt Renfrew @ Bloor didn't have any...what the hell??). So, grudgingly I left Yorkdale empty-handed, sped to Ikea to pick up some stuff for my cousin & her baby, & then headed straight to Fairview so I could take the subway down to Bloor. I had no music, no DS, it was just me & my wallet going downtown, all for the sake of getting the bag; you bet I wasn't feeling particularly giddy on the way down, lol. After what seemed like forever, I finally made it to the store, looking flushed & out of breath (the manager inside gave me a weird look, pffft). Since I've never been to the actual store before, I didn't know where things were, I even went upstairs, only to find out that they only had women's stuff up there. So I had to hide my embarrassment & walk right back down to tell one of the sales that I was looking for a specific bag. I was so rushed that when she asked me which colour I wanted, it didn't register, so instead I just kept repeating the name of the bag (after a few seconds though I finally settled down & realized what an idiot I was xP, & I told her I wanted the black one). She grabbed one from the drawers & handed it to me, & this one was perfect. All in all, I took a 30-minute train ride downtown (& another 30 back up) just for less than 10 minutes at the store, lol...but I guess it was something I needed to do to put this longtime dream of mine behind me. I finally did it!! One thing to cross off my list (this most likely won't be my last purchase at LV though, I can tell, hehe)...

Show Me The Money
While I was browsing wallets on eBay, I came to realize one interesting fact - I have never, EVER, had to buy my own wallet!! Ever since my parents bought me my first one for me to keep what lil allowance I had, I've always received my future wallets as gifts from friends & family. The one I'm using right now was given to me by my cousin Janet
a few years ago, & while it's perfect for storing all my junk keepsakes, I'm starting to find it a bit big. Hence I'm looking for a new one...one that I can actually fit into my pants' pocket without permanently stretching it (lol seriously you should see all my pants). It turns out to be harder than I thought though...apparently I've gotten so used to having a clear ID pouch that I refuse to use a wallet that doesn't have one. I also prefer to have more than 6 credit card slots so I don't have to put two into the same slot. Ya, add this to the fact that I always have to arrange my bills face-side out & in order of increasing value, & you've got yourself a wallet nazi!! xP
P.S. Oh & I also don't carry more than $100 at a time...I've been forever traumatized after losing my wallet once in HK. It only had HK$200 (~$30) but that was enough to scare me for good, lol.

Candy Shop
I became a man today!!
Now, just before you cringe in disgust, no it's not what you think...I'm talking about MAKING MY FIRST PURCHASE AT LOUIS VUITTON!! xD Lol it wasn't for me though...I was merely there to get a
bag for my mom, one that Yorkdale's Holt Renfrew didn't have when we went together (I had to go with her 'cause, what do you know, a woman with countless brand name bags doesn't have enough credit limit to pay for them, lol). So I promised her the next time I'm on Bloor, I'll check out both the Holt Renfrew & the LV store there to see if they'd have it. Man I was so nervous before going in alone...I was afraid I'd get kicked out or something (hey you never know, lol). But I guess I looked somewhat decent & as soon as I walked in, this very nice Asian (I think Japanese...her English wasn't very good) saleslady at the counter asked me what I was looking for. I told her I wanted to see the bag at the top of the shelf & she took it down to show me. It was the exact one my mom wanted, & after taking a quick look & asking for the price, I said "I'll take it" (& that felt so good...xD). She told me it could possibly be the last one left (!!), but she'll check the inventory. Luckily they still had one more (as much as I thought the display was in good condition, I wouldn't want it!!), so she went to the back to get it for me. While she was doing that I looked around & damn, was I tempted to get something for myself, lol. Everything just looked so good...while paying, we chatted a bit (like always), she told me with her broken English how she thought the bag is very cute, & that they just got it in this colour a few days ago (& they only have one left?? People sure are rich downtown...). She also asked me if I've shopped here before, I said no, & she gave me a form to fill in to join the mailing list. I felt so special. xD When she tried to swipe my credit card though, it didn't work¹, & I freaked out a lil. I mean, I have other credit cards too, but this was my main one & I always, ALWAYS pay the bill in full before it even arrives. So I got a bit nervous (especially considering where I was, lol, it's embarrassing!!), but she finally got it to work by typing in the card number manually, phew. Afterwards she packed everything up nicely, she even added a card into the bag, telling me that I can "give it to my girlfriend too". I chuckled & didn't bother to correct her, 'cause I figured for once, it could be cool to look like a sugardaddy...xP
As soon as I walked out of HR I could feel my confidence level went up, lol. That brown paper bag does magic, I tell ya...I ended up parading downtown a lil more while holding it, 'cause come on, it's not everyday that you'll make a purchase at LV. =P I must say though at the same time I was scared to death that someone would just come by & snatch the bag...so I held on to it so tight it left marks on my fingers. xP
But it was worth it...just seeing the look on my mom's face when I gave it to her, especially knowing that she's wanted it for so long. And really, this is definitely one of most beautiful bags I've seen in my entire life...when I first took it from the saleslady for a quick check, I didn't wanna let go, DESPITE I WAS TAKING IT HOME ANYWAY, lol. And now I want my own (damn you mom =P)...<sigh> Guess I'll wait a couple of months after getting my PSP & my Blu-ray player...
¹: Went to Gap after & bought a sweater, & that was when I realized it was the magnetic strip on my credit card that was causing problems (not the account itself...I was confused by the LV saleslady's English, lol)...it's so worn out 'cause I use it to pay for everything. Gonna have to ask RBC to give me a replacement...=\

Stick A Fork In It
Fuck you, town of Markham!!
So last week, just mere hours before my very first cooking lesson, I got the following message on my answering machine:
"This session of [cooking course name] has been cancelled due to no instructor. Thank you."
To which I replied, "Huh??" First of all, way to give me a heads up the day of, what if I weren't home in time to catch that?? Secondly, what does it actually mean?? Are you telling me the whole COURSE has been cancelled, or just the class for this week?? The lack of information found in the message certainly didn't help - am I getting a refund?? Or I won't 'cause classes are just being pushed back one week?? I didn't bother to find out, nor did I know whom to call to find out. So I figured I'd just go to the community centre today & see if a class would take place. Well, as you can probably guess by now, IT DID NOT, & I had to leave feeling stupid & embarrassed. xP Before I left though, I saw this (really hot) blonde girl who was in the same class & felt the same way I did, so we had a lil chat over how the message was confusing & vague to begin with, & how neither of us got a refund if the class was in fact cancelled. She even told me how she has badminton on Tuesdays, & in return I mentioned that I have tennis on Sundays (lol ya, random). After waiting for about 10 minutes outside the kitchen (which was empty when I checked earlier), our suspicions were confirmed, so we bid each other farewell & went our separate ways. On the way home I dropped by Wendy's to grab a burger for dinner (since my parents already ate, thinking that I'll get food in class), all the while feeling disappointed. I was so looking forward to this - just when I finally overcame the fear of (possibly) being the only guy in a room full of grannies & moms, just when I finally found 3 hours a week to voluntarily trap myself in a room filled with pots & pans, I had to be shot down. Just like that. With the shortest, most uninformative, most unsatisfying message on my machine. <sigh> I was hoping this would turn me into the ultimate catch (lol)...ah well, I guess I'll wait a couple more months & sign up again then. I SHALL NOT BE DETERRED!!
P.S. Guess I'll use the money back (& I BETTER GET IT BACK SOON) to buy things on my wishlist...now, PSP or
Tiffany ring?? =P
P.P.S. A BEST 2 -BLACK- really is the best album to listen to while driving at night...=)
