Dial UpSo I really really want a new phone. In a month it'll be 3 years for my good ol' Samsung (which was preceeded by another 3 years with ANOTHER Samsung) & aside from that one drop on asphalt, it's almost as good as new...at least on the outside. The reception is now terrible (I can't get into change rooms without being cut off) & after one day the battery dies down to one bar (in fact I don't recall seeing two bars in a LONG time, lol). Having said that though, there are quite a few things I like about it & I wish I could just get a newer, better looking shell for it & keep all the functions. =P But in our now ADD-generation where resources are plenty, it seems like all phones must be able to do more, WAY more, than just making calls. So here comes a phone with a 5.0MP camera that also doubles as a compact & oh, if you press a button at the side, it'll take you to a galaxy far, far away. Lol alright so that was a bit of a stretch, but I won't be surprised if that happened in the near future (I mean, there ARE already phones that have mirror-like surfaces)...
What I'm saying is, for me, I don't need all those bells & whistles. I JUST WANT A PHONE. A sturdy, reliable, user-friendly phone that I can use to call (or
not =P) people whenever & wherever I want. Sure, a camera is a nice addition, but I won't sweat it if I missed a shot of a beautiful sunset (I'm not crazy about the quality, anyway). But the one thing I definitely don't need is an mp3 player. I have my own that works just fine, thank you very much, & I'd rather use my cellphone battery to make phone calls & send text messages. And again, I'm not dying over the quality of the embedded music players out there. It seems though that every mid-end to high-end phones now have both, so I have no way of cutting costs by avoiding phones with such features. And to get a nice looking phone with a solid build (ie. no plastic) probably means it's higher end which translates to a souped up camera and/or mp3 player. So therein lies in the dilemma for me, & the reason why I STILL haven't found the perfect phone. Right now sitting at the top of my list is the Sony Ericsson
T650, which is the closest to what I want style- & function-wise. The only problem is that it's about 100 bucks over my budget, so I'll either keep looking for a similar model with a lower price tag or just wait till the price drops. I would've stuck with Samsung just 'cause I love their user interface but man are their new phones ugly...xD I'll most likely go give Pacific a visit in the coming weeks to see what's really out there & hopefully find a suitable phone that I can afford. I totally see myself ending up with the T650 though...xP
