Flying Ladies
Hmmm, is it weird to order an
English album from Japan instead of buying it here?? (I'm mostly in for the "Say My Name" music video...=P)
Yet another one of my favourite groups splitting up. Buggers.

"Dear Friends, So Long..."
As of earlier today at midnight, Do As Infinity has officially disbanded & will now only remain a memory to their fans. Having been a hardcore fan for 5 of the 6 years that they were together, I believe I shall reminisce a lil...
The very first time I heard a DAI song was from a commercial...a cosmetics commercial to be more exact. It was one for T'estimo, starring Fujiwara Noriko, Matsuyuki Yasuko, & Inamori Izumi. It was THE campaign of the year, so I decided to check it out...& the CM song played, was DAI's "Oasis". My first thought was, "What kinda band name is that??" xD Lol I'm not kiddin'...I thought it was horribly weird. But the song stuck with me. It stuck with me so much I decided to download it, not knowing at the time that it was yet to be released. Since I didn't know the title of the song (wasn't shown in the CM), I downloaded both "Tangerine Dream" & "Heart", the only DAI songs available at that point. Of course, neither turned out to be what I wanted, & my first impression was that I didn't like the vocalist's voice (I KNOW!! It's hard to believe it now, lol, but it's true). So I didn't bother checking them out afterwards...
The turning point, though, came after I watched ANOTHER cosmetics CM (ya ya I love them...hot girls all prettied up =P), this time it was the AUBE CM starring Uchida Yuki (whom I used to love when I was younger). The song was "Desire"...when I heard it, I was blown away. I KNEW I had to get that song. And after I've listened to the full version, I was so in love with it, it was all I played for days. And then I went to buy the single. And then I bought the album ("NEW WORLD"). As soon as I got into my car, I popped the CD into the stereo, & half-way through the 1st track (the title track), I already knew it was a smart purchase. I fell in love with Tomiko's voice, I fell in love with the album, & I fell in love with the band. And the rest, is history.
My fandom did take a small dip when "TRUE SONG" was released...till this day, I still consider it the biggest disappointment that DAI has brought me. Thankfully, my fandom was restored, & I continued loving them, more & more, even when many thought their music was going downhill. Which is why when they announced their disbandment, I was devastated; I still am, actually. But what else can I do, aside from keeping them in my heart & relish the good times that I've spent with their music. And the good times, I know, will continue.
Here are some of my favourite DAI songs...aside from the first two, which are my absolute favourites, the others aren't in particular order. Just too hard to rank. =P
"Fukai mori", "Hi no ataru sakamichi", "under the moon", "Tsubasa no keikaku", "Week!", "Raven", "Desire", "Remember the hill", "new world", "Eien", "Enrai", "Boukenshatachi", "under the sun", "Field of dreams", "TAO"

Let Me Be
So I have one of those "off days" where I don't feel like talking to anyone (well, anyone except one =P)...big whooping deal. It's not like I'm turning antisocial & locking myself in for life...<roll eyes>
Why does it surprise people when they can't reach me?? I actually enjoy being left alone at times...left out of the social scene where obligations & expectations can get suffocating.

To Each Their Own
Well, I guess I made this layout just in time...it's been officially announced that DAI will disband on September 29, exactly 6 years from their debut. I'm so upset I don't even know what else to say...
I knew something was up when Tomiko mouthed "sayonara" at the end of "TAO"'s PV...

Bearing Gifts From The East
Spent the past few hours at the airport, waiting to get my mom & aunts home. Turns out the corridor that connects the plane & the gate was broken ("unstrechable"??), so the plane had to go all the way around to another terminal just to drop them off. The plane landed at 8:20, yet they didn't get out until 10:00. O_O Thank God my cousin Vanessa was there to keep me company...we ended up sneaking into the conveyor belt area to help our moms with their luggage, my mom being the only one who had two huge, fully-packed bags. And that had me wondering what she's got in there...
So, before my mom left, I asked her to get me a few T's from HK 'cause I was running low on them (I was pretty much wearing the same two or three over & over again =P). And THIS, was her idea of "a few"...

(For reference's sake, that's my Queen-sized bed)
...where am I gonna find space in my closet to fit all these?? I was already out of hangers when I cleaned it last week...& more importantly, where am I gonna sleep?? xP
Aside from the T's, my mom also got me 3 brand new jackets (as if I needed more...). Two of which were orange. I'M SO HYPED. xD
My cousin Janet (whom I grew up with...I treat her like she's my older sister) also got me a Puma wallet. Awww. Just when my current one is starting to break too, hehe.
I'm so blessed!! I wish I could share my blessings with those who are in need. Hey, there's an idea...

"No, I Don't Want No Scrub..."
I'M EXHAUSTED. Since my mom is coming back on Monday & my dad isn't particularly great at housework, I had to spend most of the day cleaning the house. And I must say it was quite the task having to wash 4 bathrooms all at once. Weirdly enough, I'm down with most things: vomit, urine, feces, I don't care, I'll put my hands in that toilet gloveless. But the one thing that really creeps me out is other people's hair. And sadly, BOTH of my parents have long hair. Adding to that, my dad doesn't wash his bathroom, ever. So you can imagine the physical AND emotional trauma (lol) I had to go through just to do my job. <sigh>
But it was worth it. Everything was nice & shiny afterwards. My bathtub is blinding, really, once you turn on the lights. xD
In between chores, I did take a few hours off...watching tennis, of course. Federer beat Hewitt as expected, but not without trouble. I almost had a heart attack when Hewitt won the 3rd set. x_x Bah this better not happen again tomorrow...GO ROGER GO!!
As for the women's championship...
KIMMY WON!! It was finally time for our Ms. Congeniality here to win a Grand Slam. How touching was it when she jumped onto the rails & walked all the way to her Box just to hug her family members?? How graceful was it for her to praise her opponent for her efforts while she was receiving her trophy?? And to top it off, she's now got the record for the most prize money (US$ 2.2 million) ever won by a female athlete at a single event. What a magical ending I tell ya. I'm really looking forward to seeing more great tennis from her next year. And she's getting dangerously close to Sharapova to becoming my favourite female player (you gotta love those splits!!)...=P
(Seriously though, Maria's Canon commercial is just HOT...& I do own a PowerShot!! I'm cool...=D)

One Way Ticket
Sitting all alone on a bench on a subway platform, she watches as people wait & board the train to heaven...
Yup, that pretty much sums up "HEAVEN"'s PV. =P Great concept, but I think they could've played with it a lil bit more. It wasn't necessarily exciting...& seriously throughout the first half of the video I was like "HUH??" ('cause it wasn't clear where she was sitting & why people were walking back & forth around her). And her "crying" was a bit much. Oh our always-so-dramatic Ayu. =P
Surprisingly, I still got to like the song more after seeing the PV. And after watching it a few more times, I've grown to like the PV too. I should've known better...if she were to pull a simple yet moving single cover, I should've expected the same for the video. Screw the extravagant stuff. (Well actually, no...I still prefer her crazy elaborate costumes/running around in CG world/things exploding here & there/dominatrix in a nightclub videos. I'm thinking they probably spent all their budget on
"fairyland"'s PV instead, lol. They sure are relying heavily on the movie to do the promotion huh??)
