Lava Life (It Burns!)
I'm probably not the only one who thinks this: dealing with your other half's friends can be a pain in the ass. It's ironic 'cause one's friends, technically, should define one's personality. So, if your boyfriend/girlfriend's buddies are hideous, chances are that your honey is too. =P Evidently, it can get really frustrating trying to strike a conversation with them & even harder to leave a good impression of yourself (though I must say that you do get an edge if you're good looking). That's why sometimes it's better to go out with a person of your own circle - someone that's already a friend, someone that you already hang out with regularly, in the presence of other people that you enjoy spending time with. That though, generates another problem: what do you do when you guys break up?? Do you alienate your friends, spread rumours so your ex will be the one who's alienated, or just pretend nothing happened?? (And especially with your close friends, do you really want to ruin a potential lifetime friendship by stepping over the line??) All in all, love is tough. It's just like using a public washroom - if you wanna get into it, you gotta put up with the shit.

Valles Marineris¹
Great, I'm now trapped in the house (well, more or less). Can't go anywhere since my car's stuck in the garage + driveway area due to the road construction that's happening RIGHT in front of my house. I can always walk, you say?? Keep in mind this is Canada, the 2nd largest country in the world, you can only go so far with your own legs. =P And then there's the choice of using the TTC...but tell me why would I bus, again, when I already commute to school every single day?? See, I AM trapped. Like a poor mouse in one of those inhumane psychology experiments. The difference is I don't even get a pellet for pressing a lever. I gotta cook myself if I want food!!
¹: Kudos to the first person who can tell me what that is.

The Cyber Age
If you call walking around in a mall, checking out clothes in stores without actually buying them "window shopping", what do you call doing the same thing on the net with online shopping sites?? "Monitor shopping"?? =P

Time For Beer
I know I said that I'll post my comments on "forgiveness" today, but it doesn't look like that's gonna happen. I've already written half of it, but having trouble finishing the rest, 'cause I think I interpreted the PV a lil too darkly, lol. I did get the
single today though...the song sounds even better on my stereo. =)
Just posting to tell the world how happy I am to achieve my desired mark for GER100. Siebenundneunzig...wow, that's probably the highest mark I'll ever get at UofT. xD

A Walk In The Park
Right now I'm hot, sweaty, aching (feet hurt; right wrist not working at 100%), mute (throat defunct due to excessive screaming), & tired. Tell me why I'd pay 50 bucks to induce such conditions onto myself??
Anyway, I spent the whole day @
Wonderland & it was loads of fun. The weather was a lil bit too sunny, so it was unbearable for an hour or two. Thankfully we were smart enough to get ourselves all wet before it got too hot. From then on, the heat didn't bother us as much (actually for a short while after "Timberwolf", we were cold =P). The evening though, was just simply beautiful - it was perfect having funnel cakes under the moonlight (which was my dinner, lol). Interestingly, the rides that I've always loved didn't quite live up to my expectations this time (except "The Bat", in which luckily, I sat at the very back), whereas the long-fogotten ones had impressed me once again. The most interesting part though, was the enormous amount of SpongeBob SquarePants that were lying around as prizes (literally, they were everywhere). We all tried desperately to get one, only to fail miserably (I actually wanted Patrick Star in the beginning, but SpongeBob was cuter as a stuffed-toy, so...). =\ My favourite part of the whole trip?? Flying through the highway while listening to Sammi on my way home. That's gotta be some of the most memorable 20 minutes of my life. =D

Wake Me Up!
After being bombarded by the excessive amount of
Freddy vs. Jason commercials, I kinda want to see the movie now. The thing is I'm most definitely not paying for it. Anyone willing to treat me??
Seriously though, I was very frightened by Freddy when I was a kid. A Nightmare on Elm Street literally gave me nightmares. However, now that I look at Freddy, I actually think he looks kinda cool. All those claws, that appalling facial complexion, that striped sweater...he's much more fashionable than Jason (whom I was never truly afraid of), at the very least. So I hope Freddy does win in the end (those who've already seen the movie, DON'T tell me, or I'm gonna hunt you down!!)...

Let There Be Light
Ahhh, I'm finally freed from the blackout!! (actually it's been good for an hour already, just that my cable wasn't back yet)
More stories about it tomorrow morning. I also got lots of pictures to share. Woo-hoo.

No, I Don't Eat Steak With Chopsticks
Right, so I almost forgot to mention this funny incident that happened yesterday before my exam.
First off, my prof told us the wrong exam room. We sorta knew all along, since the online listing gave us West Hall, which sounded a lot more plausible. We went searching for the other room anyway, only to find out that it was nothing but a photocopy room (!!) in a LOCKED library (!!!!). Thankfully my friend & I saw a bunch of our fellow classmates gathering in front of UC, along with my prof. After a minute of discussion, we decided to go to West Hall instead, only to find out that, in fact, we were writing our exam there, BUT we'll be sharing it with the East Asian Studies class. Fine, so we are a small class after all...
After an EXTREMELY hot 5 minutes of waiting outside the room (damn
UC for not having A/C...thank God we moved to Innis for classes after the first 2 weeks), we went in. As soon as we did, the invigilator said loud & clear "GER100 on the right, EAS102 on the left". So my two Chinese friends & I, logically, all went for the right. Just as we were planning to sit down though, the invigilator took a good look at us, then repeated, "EAS102 on the LEFT, GER100 on the RIGHT". The 3 of us immediately knew what was going on, & I laughed at the thought of it. Just because we were Chinese, he obviously thought we belonged to East Asian Studies, as there was no way in hell we'd be studying German. Well dude, I'm sorry to tell you, but you're very wrong!! xP

Auf Wiedersehen
I'm finally done summer school - my oral exam just ended an hour ago. I truly had fun; instead of an exam, it was more like a chat. My prof kinda threw me off by asking questions that weren't on the preparation sheet, but I pulled through (even though I spoke in Gerish...that's 1/2 German 1/2 English =P). She ended up asking me about Hong Kong & recommended me some summer reads (in German, of course). Anyway, it was a great & memorable ending to GER100. =)
My written exam was yesterday, & I was so tired after writing it I simply had no energy to post, so here it is now. It wasn't too bad, definitely harder than our tests, but it was still manageable. The readings did stumble me a lil 'cause they were all written in the simple past, which we hardly spent any time on. The writing part though was the worst, I used nearly an hour coming up with 8 sentences (hello, the topic was about a gift for a friend...when was I ever so generous?? =P). That cost me the privilege of checking everything over once, so I might have made quite a bit of stupid mistakes without knowing it. Ah well, my 4.0 is still as solid as concrete...
Can't believe it's 26 more days & I'll be back here again...full throttle too. Guess I should cherish these 3 weeks as much as possible.

I Hate Physics
Newton's 3rd Law of Motion states that "for every action force, there's a reaction force of equal magnitude working in the opposite direction". Is that why the more my brain resists liking you, my heart betrays me & turns the other way?? Why then, may I ask, are the forces NOT of equal magnitude?? Why is one stronger - much stronger - than the other??
Oh right, Laws of Motion - not of Emotion.

Squeaky Kakki
People are often surprised when I tell them that I do chores in the house. It seems to me that for many, the first word that's synonymous with "only child" is "spoiled". Second word: "handicapped". Well hello, if I don't do the chores, who else can my parents give it to?? My poor nonexistent dog who can't even stand on his two hindlegs?? =P Though of course, parents can alway choose to do everything themselves & let the child keep his throne, but that's just unreal. What's the point of having children if you can't use them as feebly-paid (sometimes unpaid) housemaids?? Lol seriously though, chore-ing might not be the best entertainment in the world, but it's definitely better than sitting on your ass & watching it grow while your pants split.
Why am I suddenly talking about this?? Oh, just happened to be a thought that came across my mind while I was washing the dishes. =P

An Old Flame
I've found a new pastime - playing the violin. Yes I know it's very ironic, considering I'm the one who dreaded going to class every Friday, skipped class every OTHER Friday, made up the most outrageous of excuses to do so (trust me, I've gone the distance, including "I broke my arm during a ski trip" - that got me 3 weeks off...or was it 4?? xD), & quitted before I could even finish my exam. But these two days have been really magical; I have never, ever, enjoyed playing it as much as I now do. I'd actually close my eyes & let the music flow through me, pass my ears & right into my soul. I've never had that feeling before...even if I had, it was nowhere as beautiful. I hope this will continue & I'll be able to do this more often, even though I seriously doubt it since school will resume in a month. But I'll cherish the remaining 4 weeks & hopefully, make the best out of it. At least try to get a grade or two back, maybe?? ^^;
P.S. You know, throughout my 7 years of violin studies, I've never appreciated the beauty of a chin rest; better yet, I don't even have one. But now I've finally realized how useful it is - it keeps your collar bone free of pain!! (...what's with all these sudden enlightenments??)
